| Rink Directions: (Alphabetical Order) Click the name for maps Biddeford Ice Arena Maine Turnpike south to Exit 4. Turn left onto Route 111, at stop light. Go approximately 3/4 mile until you see a sign for the Arena on the right. The sign says "Alfred Road Park", however the rink is on Pomerleau St and is on your left between Wellspring Road and Barra Road. It is 28 miles from Cumberland and should take you 40 minutes or less with a tailwind. Colby College, Waterville, ME Yet another wonderful Harold Alfond rink.... Take 295 to 95 North to Waterville exit 33. Go East on Kennedy Dr. to second light; go left on First Range Way. (Go 1 mile and turn left on Mayflower Hill Drive. Continue on Mayflower past Dana Hall and Admissions Office. Just past football field (left) & baseball field (right) turn left at island. Athletic Center ahead on the right. Parking is available out back. Colisee - Central Maine Civic Center (Lewiston High School & St. Dom's home ice, as well as the Quebec Major Junior Hockey team the "MAINEiacs") Formerly a dark hole, now a shining bright spot in the LA area. Take Exit 13 off Maine Turnpike. Follow ramp to Lisbon Road and proceed toward the center of Lewiston. At the 4th light, turn right on East Avenue. At next light, turn left on Bartlett Street. At first stop sign, turn right on Birch Street. You will see the brand-new paved parking lot and large gray building on the left. It's about 29 miles and 40 minutes away from the center of Cumberland. This venue has gone through an amazing transition and restoration. The twin-cities should be very proud. CCCC – 775-3481 The Cumberland County Civic Center, home of our Portland Pirates is located at 1 Civic Center Square in Portland. Take I-95 to exit 7 to Franklin Street Arterial. Travel 5 sets of lights and turn right onto Middle Street. Go up three sets of lights until you see the Civic Center on your right. Good luck with Free Parking. Enter through the zamboni area door on the North end at the sloped driveway (It looks like a service entrance). Its about 14 miles from the center of Cumberland. Dayton Ice Arena at Bowdoin College (Another Harold Alfond Rink) Take Route 95 to Brunswick. Take 295 North to Bath/Brunswick Rt. 1, Exit 22. Follow Rt. 1 North into Brunswick onto Pleasant St. Stay on Pleasant St. until you get to Maine St. Take a right onto Maine St., and head towards Bowdoin College. Take a left after Parish Church (Bowdoin College is now on your right). At first light turn right (Harpswell St.). Arena will be on your right. Aerial Photo, courtesy of The Maine office of GIS Kennebec Ice Arena Whitten Road, Hallowell, ME 622-6354 Take Maine Turnpike/I-95 northbound to the first Augusta exit (Western Avenue). Go straight when you come off the exit and this will leave you on westbound Western Avenue. North on I-95/Maine Turnpike to US-202 exit 30 (Augusta/Winthrop). Follow signs at exit towards Winthrop, onto US-202/Western Ave. At the first traffic light move to the far left lane, turn left onto the Whitten Rd. and the Shopping Center. Stay on the Whitten Rd. as it curls around (runs parallel to the I-9. The Kennebec Ice Arena will be on the right, about 1.5 miles. (Note that Kennebec Ice Arena is visible from I-95). Kents Hill Kents Hill is home to the fabulous Alfond Athletic Center. The Center is right off Route 17 in Kents Hill, ME. The phone number for the Center is 207-685-3878, while the school is 685-4914 Click the Kents Hill title for a map or just follow these directions. Take I-95 northbound to Augusta, Exit 30. Take Route 202 towards Winthrop. When you reach Manchester Center, take a right onto Route 17 westbound to Readfield. Go through Readfield and the next town you reach will be Kents Hill. The school is on your left; the rink is just off 17 on the north side of the campus. Hebron Academy - Robinson Arena (966-1804) Robinson Arena, recorded in the Guiness Book of Records as the coldest arena in the Northeast, is located on the Hebron Academy campus. If you must go, first grab your parka and thermals, two liters of cofee, and fill up your gas tank. From Cumberland it's about 38 miles and 50 minutes, and the shortest (in distance) route takes you through Gray, Poland, Mechanic Falls and Minot. Take 115 to Gray, and then 26 out of Gray through Poland Springs and Poland. Take a right on Rt 11 and take Rte 124 in Mechanic Falls (kinda straight across the intersection). Follow 124 into West Minot, where you need to take a very sharp left onto Rte 119 and travel about 3 miles to the campus. When you reach Hebron, you will pass the post office and two white buildings on the left. The rink is somewhat hidden and is located on the left-hand side of the road. In the past, there has been an orange sign that says "Robinson Arena parking". The Arena has really nice 'home' locker rooms and interesting 'away' locker rooms, and some of the hardest ice south of Millinocket. Map NYA - Travis Roy Arena NYA is the home of the Travis Roy Ice Arena. NYA is located on Rte 1 in Yarmouth across from Rite Aid, to the south of Yarmouth Village exit. Parking around the Arena can get limited for some of the games, and there is spill-over parking across Rte 1 (but please be careful crossing.) Portland Ice Arena (PIA) (207) 774-8553 Take 295 to Exit 6 Forest Ave. Bear right at first light off exit and go through Deering Oaks Park. Take right at light onto Park Ave. Go down two lights and find the PIA on right, next to Expo. Parking is out along the street, between PIA & the Expo and also behind the PIA. Parking can get competitive with functions at the Expo, but there always seems to be room out back. Winslow (Sukee Arena) Take I-95 to Augusta. At first exit, bear right off the ramp onto Western Avenue. Proceed to the rotary. Go half way around and bear right over the bridge (Route 201). At the next rotary, go around to follow Route 201 to Vassalboro/Waterville. Arena is next to Fort Halifax, parking on the right (not easily seen from the road-about half a mile from the Winslow town line.) If you are going to Sukee, you need to include a mandatory stop at "Big G's" in Waterville. (REMEMBER, a large 'Big G' sandwich is really for 4-12 people, or one Teen-aged boy) University of Southern Maine, Gorham – 780-5991 Olympic sized ice. (I'd like mine supersized, please...) Take route 25 to Gorham Center. At the light take a right onto route 114 and travel less than a ¼ mile and take a left at the blinking light. Go straight until you see the Hill Gym, the new ice arena is attached to the gym. Other Less Commonly visited Rinks Berlin, Berlin NH From Cumberland, take Route 115 to Gray Center. In Gray Center, take Route 26 to Bethel. In Bethel, take Route 2 west through Gorham, NH to Route 16. Take Route 16 north to Berlin, NH. Once in Berlin, go to the top of the knoll and turn left at the bank (center of town), follow to the intersection of Route 110 and Route 16 south, turn left. [***BUSES MUST FOLLOW ROUTE 110 TRUCK ROUTE DUE TO LOW CLEARANCES*** Cross railroad tracks and follow truck route back to Route 110.] Turn left onto Route 110 and follow to the "T" in the road, turn right. Go across the railroad tracks and the Arena will be immediately on your left. Berwick Academy (Dover, NH Ice Arena)(603) 743-6060 Maine Turnpike south to Exit 2, Wells/Sanford. Bear right off ramp and then left onto Route 9. Follow Route 9 into North Berwick. Take a left onto Route 4 and follow signs to South Berwick. Turn left at stop sign and follow Route 4 to Dover, NH. Ice arena is on the right, approximately 3/4 mile, across from Philbrick's Sporting Goods. Berwick Academy (Rochester, NH Ice Arena)(603) 332-7334 Maine Turnpike south to Exit 4, take Route 111 to Sanford. Pick up Routes 202 & 11 to Rochester. In town, go through the first set of lights (BankEast will be on the right.) At second set of lights, with Cumberland Farms on the right, turn right. Pass Kentucky Fried Chicken. Before a road merges from the left, turn left, crossing over the road onto Lowell Street. Brocks Lumber, a large green building, will be on the right: beyond Brocks is the YMCA and arena. Brewer (Bouchard Arena) The ice arena is on the Acme Road, off Wilson Street in Brewer. After passing the front of the high school, go to the lights and take a left. Stay left at the traffic island and go through two sets of lights. At the second light, take a left and follow Acme Road to the end. The arena is on the left. Bridgton Academy North Bridgton, ME 647-3322 Maine Turnpike to Exit 8. Follow signs to Bridgton on Route 302 (about 40 miles). At the traffic light in Bridgton, go straight ahead on Route 117 to North Bridgton (3 miles). At North Bridgton-Waterford sign, turn left onto Route 37. Follow signs to the Academy on the left. Ham Arena, West Main Street, Conway, New Hampshire Go through Fryeburg going west on Rte. 302/113. At first light, continue straight on Rte. 113 (Rte. 302 goes right). Continue west on 113 to lights in Conway (Irving on the right). Stay straight through next set of lights (4 corner intersection). Keep straight until Kennett High School is on the right. Take left at flashing light (onto West Main St.). 1/2 mile on the left is Ham Arena. Further information is available at www.hamarena.com Exeter (Phillips Exeter Academy Ice Hockey) From the North take I-95 South. Take Exit 2 in New Hampshire just before the Hampton tollgate. Travel West on Rte. 101 approximately 4 miles. Take Exit 11 at Rte. 108. At the end of the exit ramp, turn left (Rte. 108 / Portsmouth Avenue). Turn right at the 5th traffic light (Routes 27 / 111 / 108). Turn left at bandstand; next left onto Court Street. Travel past fire / police complex. Gym will be on your left, approximately 2 blocks. Pettingill Ice Arena, Pettingill Park, Auburn, ME (207) 795-6375 Take Route 115 West to North Yarmouth and Route 231 to Gray.. You can jump on the Turnpike and go north to Exit 12 of the Maine Turnpike, or follow signs to Routes 4/202/100 in New Gloucester to Auburn. The turnpike rejoins Routes 4/202/100 at Exit 12, where you continue north on Routes 4/202/100 into Auburn. In Auburn, near Roy's hamburger stand and Denny's take left onto Court Street and a quick right onto Goff St., which turns into Gamage Avenue. Gamage Avenue for about 0.3 miles. At the top of slight hill, take a right onto Wilson Street. (Follow the green signs that say Pettingill Park.) Take a left onto Field St, and then a right and down the hill on Pettingill Park Road. From Cumberland, plan on 40-45 minutes for the 28 miles. If you don't take the turnpike and stay on 100, it's a half-mile shorter, but will take you 5 minutes longer. Map1 Map2 Whittemore Center at UNH in Durham, NH Website Take I-95 Route 4 north (NH Lakes and Mountains, Spaulding Turnpike). Continue North to Exit 6W and follow Route 4 west past the UNH/Durham Route 108 exit. Exit at Route 155A and turn east toward Durham. Follow 155A past a short stretch of fields to the UNH Athletic Fields and Fieldhouse. Plenty of parking is available in "A Lot" directly across from the Field House (before 6pm park at the Visitors Lot next to A lot). You will see signs for "A Lot" parking prior to arriving at the Fieldhouse. The Whittemore Center, home to ice hockey and basketball is only a short walk from "A Lot", as well as the Fieldhouse.
