GIRLS COACHING TEAM

HEATHER GEOGHAN
Girls Varsity Head Coach

Heather joined us as the Varsity Head Coach for Greely Girls Hockey in 2007.   As a player, she started to learn the sport as a freshman in high school, and is thrilled to see how much the sport has grown over the past decade.  After two years of playing for Casco Bay Girls, Casco Bay Bantams, and the Maine Select U-15’s, she wanted to take her sport to the next level and transferred from Falmouth High School to North Yarmouth Academy.  In her 2 years at NYA, she played for the JV Boys’ team, and captained the Girls Varsity Squad, in addition to playing on the Maine Selects U-19’s.  She also skated as a Level II Referee for Casco Bay Youth Hockey.

Heather completed a post-graduate year of study at Phillips Academy at Andover where she continued to play field hockey, ice hockey, and softball.  She then went on to play hockey at Manhattanville College, as one of 15 freshmen on the inaugural team, finishing 8th in ECAC Division III Women’s Ice Hockey.  In addition to hockey, she also played two years of Division III Women’s Lacrosse.  After two years at Manhattanville, she transferred to the University of Maine at Orono to complete her education, and graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Physical Education, with a minor in Psychology and Biology. Heather received her Master’s Degree in Athletic Administration in the School of Kinesiology at James Madison University in Virginia in December 2006.

Heather has also coached the JV lacrosse program at Greely, and the 7th grade field hockey team.  She is currently teaching Physical Education at Greely High School, and resides in Yarmouth with her husband Mike and their labradoodle Rangeley.

Nate Guerin

Girls Varsity Assistant Coach

Nate Guerin learned to skate on frozen New Hampshire ponds and grew up playing hockey in Lansing, Michigan. He has been involved in hockey ever since and since 2005 has been coaching hockey.  He began his first season working with the Greely Girls program in 2009 and he is excited to see what this impressive group of young ladies is capable of. With two brothers and a dad all playing hockey for the past 20+ years he cannot imagine his life without regular trips to the rink and the camaraderie that comes with being part of a team. Along with coaching, Nate continues to play in the Portland men's league. He thanks Coach Geoghan and Greely High School for the opportunity to work with the program.
